Hit the Apps from Unknown Sources option. Some people see this as a toggle; flip it on. Otherwise, select the browser you will be using to download and install your files. Alternatively, you can use the Files app or any other file manager app.
You can only send files to your Fire from e-mail addresses that have been added to the Approved Personal Document E-mail List. In most cases, this will be the address that you have registered your Amazon account to, unless you have previously changed it. To add a new e-mail address to this list, simply click on the Add a new approved e-mail address link at the bottom of the list.
Enter the new address in the text box, then click on the Add Address button. If you want to remove a previous address, click on the Delete link to the right of the address, then click on the OK button to confirm the deletion. And while it isn't bad, it isn't as fast or easy-to-use as Chrome.
Amazon would prefer you use the Silk browser and stay within the Amazon universe. They don't want you straying off into Google Land. But there's no technical reason you can't install the Chrome browser on a Fire tablet. It won't void the warranty and in fact, will make the tablet even better.
Fortunately, installing the Chrome browser onto a Fire tablet is easy. You can do it in less than two minutes simply by visiting one web page and clicking the download link to install. I show how in the video below.
